Since the genesis of the Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo administration, holidays that were supposed to be celebrated during the middle of the week have been “moved” to a Monday or Friday to create a string of three non-working days. This is an effort to encourage local tourism and give people ample time to spend with their friends [...]
This seems to be a very popular question so I will be addressing it through this post. Relative to other places of interest in the Philippines, Sagada is affordable. Accommodation is reasonably priced and the guided tours are of standard price. As with any budget, one must break it down to its components to be [...]
I remember someone asking about this so I’ll be posting this offer from a wife of a SEGA guide. If you’re not to thrilled to take public transport and lug your bags in between bus rides, then this could be the option for you. It will cost more, but maybe the comfort is worth it, [...]
This is probably the question that I get asked the most via e-mail. How many days should one spend in Sagada to make the trip worth it? Of course, the answer would differ from person to person who has been there, but if you were to ask me – me being a generally laid-back guy [...]
If you’ve done a decent amount of reading and research, you would know by now that there’s no way that you could go to Sagada on a day trip. The travel time from the other heavily traveled towns and cities (Banaue and Sagada) makes it virtually impossible to make much in 24 hours – the [...]
Since a lot of our readers are requesting for a sample itinerary, I thought of sharing mine. This is quite a compacted itinerary since I have no liberty of spending a much longer time there due to my busy work schedule. Nonetheless, I find the itinerary just perfect (for me).

It’s one of the things that I’m asked the most about Sagada. Most people who have been to the mountainous regions of Northern Philippines could attest that the temperature could get as cold as 20 degrees lower than the national average – about 8 to 9 degrees Celsius — but that’s only because [...]
Another option for Manila based tourist bound to Sagada is to take the Manila-Banaue-Bontoc-Sagada route. The entire trip takes more or less twelve (12) hours. Manila to Banaue is a nine (9) hour bus ride that passes through Central Luzon provinces of Bulacan, Nueva Ecija and Nueva Vizcaya all the way to this town in [...]
I was fourteen years old during my first trip to Sagada. My family traveled through Banaue with my Dad as the designated driver. While this mode of transportation is highly atypical of how most people would experience Sagada, taking your own car doesn’t really make much of a difference as far as comfort is concerned. [...]
Bontoc is the capital of Mountain Province. It is about 12 hours from Manila and a mere 45 minutes from Sagada. Compared to Baguio, there are definitely less buses going to Bontoc.
