About Us

A few years ago, a few guys tried to Google “Sagada” to find out more information regarding the details of going to the sleepy mountain town up in the valleys and peaks of Mountain Province. Though there were some entries in online forums. The dearth of information was so obvious. It was a bit surprising that one of the most popular backpacker destinations was still uncharted online. This was what brought Visit Sagada.

Disclosure:

VISIT SAGADA IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT OF SAGADA. It is also not affiliated with any establishment in Sagada is only working on first hand experiences of the handful of writers on the team.

Visit Sagada is not a package tours company.

  21. hi, i was wondering if you could advise us on a possible itenerary to sagada from tuguegarao city on june and/or july. We are very much interested in touring and exploring sagada. hope you could help us on this. thank you very much!

    Comment by Roch — May 17, 2008 @ 10:22 am

  22. Ahm, we haven’t actually tried a Tuguegarao-Sagada trip, but having been to Tuguegarao, I would suggest caving in Cagayan since there are lots of explorable caves in that province, in Peñablanca to be exact, with varying difficulties – Callao Cave, Jackpot Cave, Odessa-Tumbali Cave System and San Carlos Cave. Try a also a banca ride in Mororan River and see thousands of bats fly out from Callao Cave at around 6 pm. Visit also Portabaga Falls in Sta. Praxedes, Black & Fine Sand Beaches, The Oldest Bell in Southeast Asia located in Camalaniugan’s San Jacinto de Polonia Parish. Then go to Kalinga and try white water rafting in Chico River before heading to Sagada. :) Haha! Sorry, my suggestion sounds insane :P

    Comment by carissa — July 2, 2008 @ 12:09 pm

  27. This site reminds of me of my camping trip to Sagada a few years back. The trip from Baguio to Sagada was in itself an adventure. Got many of personal firsts on that visit: first rappel over a tower and cliff, first time to enter such a huge cave (i think they call it the “big foot!?), and of course the very tiring hike to the big falls but it offered us a grand adventure. The inviting waters made us forget that we need to reserve energy for the uphill climb back from the falls and the return hike was ****ing hell!

But the best experience was just sitting down near the mountain cliff at the Echo Valley and silently looking at how God has truly blessed us.

Guys, thanks for this site and for rekindling the fond memories of my favorite place on Earth! Been to other places and in other countries but all failed to replace Sagada in my heart! Kudos!

    Hello everyone!

I’m Kyut (Makneg) Villarca, an environementalist, and obsessed in Sagada. I’ve been there way back on 2003, twice, the first one is October and last is Dec. 2003 (celebrating a very cold xmas on that paradise).

I would like to ask if anyone of you know the name of the hotel or inn beside the municipal hall, (not the igorot inn) the house beside the jail of the hall? it is owned by Mrs. Rose Camtugan, i stayed there and they are my foster family. I would like to know if anyone of you is in Sagada right now, and help me to ask their number because I lost my cellphone and i don’t have a contact with them. Im planning to go back again in Sagada this Xmas vacation. Pls help me guys… just tell them that it’s me Kyut from Manila who stayed on their care last 2003.

    Thanks!

  39. hi guys…thank u for sharing lots of information about sagada..i went there alone but met 3 amazing and fun fellow mindanaons from cagayan de oro city..we stayed syempre kina tita mary..we really enjoyed the place, the food…somehow its really expensive if you don’t cook your own food but i would suggest you go to cuisina igorota for those planning to go there and looking for cheap meals..pwede hatiin hanggang dinner kasi ang dami for P80. and tita mary’s accommodation is around P200 when we were there last week…p50 for the jeep from bontoc to sagada…cuisina igorota is at the back of the hospital and you can also inquire them to if they knew someone willing to wash clothes..it was cheaper there than at the laundry-i-forgot-the-name because they charged your per clothing while there they sort of weigh it…thank you for your wonderful site..it is truly a place to go back again and again…..

  56. I think our visit to Sagada is one of my most memorable out-of-town trips ‘coz the ambience is very much far from stressful city life. Also, I’ve never expected that I could pass the challenge of caving for 3 hours and I’m very proud of it. I like the food at Yogurt House. ‘Hope I could find time to visit and enjoy the place again.

  67. I’ve been to sagada laST aug.14-18. It was fun trekking and trying the quaint resto’s there. I personally recommend yoghurt house and lemon pie house. Youghurt house makes huge servings of non traditional food (which makes a good starter for newcomers)like sandwiches, pasta and viand with rice dishes. After that one should try for the pinikpikan- a traditional meal and see how it’s prepared traditionally in the Salt and Pepper diner(needs cultural sensitivity).

  85. Thanks for this informative site. have few questions,

1.Where can we arrange tour guide for sumaging cave and bomod-ok falls

2.Have heard the encounter in brgy maiinit. Is it still off limits at bomod-ok falls?

3.If bomod-ok falls is not available what is the alternative place to go before we leave Sagada?

    4. Is it safe If i go alone?

  87. Hello there!

Im planning to give my gf a treat to Sakada this February, but as you know financial matters will play a big consideration on this trip. So would you mind to somehow give me a copy of the fees for every tour and for the payments so I can prepare the money needed aside from the transportation expenses? This will be very helpful, not just for me but for all the planners/interested checking out this site.

    Thank you.

  88. Hi!
Had my first ever trip to Sagada last Feb 10-12, 2010. I went there alone & it wouldn’t be possible without the tips that I got from your site.

I’ve just arrived but I’m already planning my next visit. : )

    Thanks heaps.

  89. I remember this site has helped me a lot on my solo trip to Sagada last year and now that I’ve recently started blogging about my solo trips and hopefully complete my Sagada write up soon, I’d be linking back to your site to let others know how informative this site is.I’ve always adored the Cordilleras and it’s culture. Adding up to Sagada’s charm is the genuine warmth of the Igorots and experiencing Sagada was made possible with your help. Finding your site back then is such a relief. More power and keep the posts coming! =)

  90. I have no regrets I chose Sagada for my first ever SOLO TRAVEL last Feb5-8, 2010. I so love the Cave Connection and Bomod-ok Falls experience. Superb, and extremely fulfilling.

Never felt alone too, I met a lot of interesting and kind people in this trip. Ü

  94. the first thing that popped into my mind when i first saw the trees with fog early in the morning around sagada was ‘peace’.. then when we passed through the rice terraces while on our way to bomod-ok falls, i said, ‘breathtaking’..the rock formations at the sumaguing cave are ‘awesome’..i guess you can say 100 words to define its mesmerizing beauty and you can still go on and on.. if there is one place id like to go back to every time i think of.. it would be sagada..

  95. nice spot ang Sagada… tama ang mga suggestions na you take the route Manila-Baguio-Sagada. Manila to Baguio (6 hours) Baguio to Sagada (6 hours). You can ride Victory Liner going to Baguio. From Victory’s Bus Terminal you can take a taxi going to Dangwa Bus Station. First trip to Sagada is @ 5:30am (recommended). You can choose you own adventure in Sagada by doing the “Cave Connection” (either the 2-hour or 4-hour caving), falls, underground river, etc.) I’d suggest you go first to Sagada Municipal Hall for tour packages they would give you .The more, the better and cheaper =)After Sagada escapade, you may opt to go to Banaue via Bontoc. Sagada to Bontoc (50-mins jeepney ride). In Bontoc, you can visit the Bontoc Museum (Entrance: PhP 50.00). Bontoc to Banaue (2 hours). Madami ang scenic spots their in Banaue aside from the “Banaue Rice Terraces” (PhP 200.00 trike fare from city going to the different view points or ~2-hour hike sa mga nagtitipid – heheheheh, ginawa namin itong option na ito nakakapagod pero worth it naman!) Bangaan Village and Rice Terraces (PhP 600.00 round-trip trike, 1-hour trike ride to Bangaan, 30-min to go down to the village via foottrail). Nga pala, kung 2-3 lng kayo pupunta mag trike nlng kayo, kapag maramihan naman mag van kayo. Mas mahal ang rent ng van kesa trike. Though, there are spots that you really need to spend the whole day for you to go there and enjoy (including the transit going there, either tricycle or van and hours of hiking in some spots). Depende sa inyo kung where do you want to go… Ito ang tinatawag na “The Cordillera Invasion” :)

  97. How badly is the Sagada area hit by typhoon Juan. Is it still worthwhile going there for a short break or is it better to defer the trip for a few months?

  98. would you happen to have the contact number for St. Joseph’s Inn? Kindly send it to me as soon as possible for my mom and i are bound for sagada this thursday.
Are there genuine Sagadan Houses for rent? i thought maybe we could have a taste of how it is to live in a real Sagada home.
Are things at sagada normalize now after typhoon Juan?
