  1. I am planning for a trip to Sagada with my boyfriend; it’ll be both our first time there. After reading most of the blogs linked to this page, I got a clearer picture of the HOWs in Sagada. Also, I must agree with Benj that travelling here with agencies takes away the totality of the experience.

Kudos to Benj and Angel for diligently maintaining this site.

    Cheers!

  2. I think you missed out the most basic information – WHERE is Sagada exactly? And is there any way to get there except through bus hopping? We only have a few days to spare and spending it on the bus isn’t what we had in mind :)

  3. ^^ Sagada is a municipality in Mountain Province, part of the Cordillera Administrative Region. It is approximately 275 km from Manila or 140 km from Baguio
Whether you’ll choose Baguio or Banaue route, you will spend 12 hours travelling on a bus, I dont think there are other options. For me, the 12 hours travel is part of the great experience we had.

  4. Hi!

Planning to go to Sagada this weekend but forecasts show heavy rains. Would it still be advisable to go or should we put off the trip for some other time? Would it still be possible to enjoy the adventure if it’s pouring?

    Thanks

    Comment by Reg — June 1, 2009 @ 7:15 am

  5. Reg, caving in Sumaguing is probably not a good time when it’s pouring as there is un underground river. But if you don’t mind walking in the rain, it shouldn’t take away from the fun.

  6. Do you recommend Sagada as a destination for a family vacation which includes kids? Age range is 4 – 13 yo?

    Comment by Liza — August 10, 2009 @ 9:14 pm

  7. Sounds like a good plan, Liza. They won’t be able to do the trekking, but they’ll enjoy the weather for sure. :)

  9. Thanks for the compilation. Sagada is definitely one of the must visit places in my checklist this year. Just curious guys. If I plan to organize like a half day or whole day or evening event there, are there places that you can recommend to accommodate such needs?

  15. Hi Benj,

Me and my officemates are going to Sagada for a 3D/2N adventure this Nov. Can you give me an itinerary that would include Sumaguing Cave and the Big Falls? Travel would be Manila-Banaue-Sagada-Baguio-Manila. Also, is it ok to bring a camera inside the cave? Thanks.

  18. hello. im planning to have a roadtrip to sagada this january as a birthday adventure for myself, together with 2 of my friends. we want to do it in a very strict budget of 4000 or less per person for about 4d/3n. part of the experience im looking forward to is that we’re going to use a very special car going there, a volkswagen beetle. since we would be in a very tight budget by choice, we wanted to spend some of the nights camping out instead of spending money on lodging. question is, are there places where we could assemble a tent and set camp for the night in sagada? thanks in advance, im really looking forward to this trip. :)

  24. Hi! I haven’t had a chance to go through everything in this site yet but it looks like this can be my one-stop shop for my Sagada trip. I’ll read through the pages this weekend. I just want to get some headstart so I’m sending my questions in anyway. Please feel free to defer any questions below :)

    1. Is February a good month to go to Sagada?
    2. Do you have to make reservations for a tour guide?
    3. Can we just go to the gov’t office (DOT? I forgot which one exactly but remember that we can hire an official guide), hire a guide, give our itenerary and he’ll be able to lead the way from there? Or do we hire guides based on the set tours in their brochure (posted in this site)?

    Thanks!!

    Comment by TJ — January 6, 2010 @ 6:07 pm

  25. 1. Yes.

    2. No.

    3. Yes. The guides are either from the SEGA or the SaGGAs. :) both are accredited. There’s no such thing as DOT agency for guides. Both associations have similar prices and itineraries.

  26. Hi! When exactly is the town fiesta? is it more comfortable to go manila-bontoc-sagada by cable tours than Manila-baguio-sagada by florida bus line? please help us decide which one to choose. thanks!

  32. food at yoghurt house is excellent but the service definitely sucks!!! especially with that chubby sour-faced waitress/server who obviously hates doing her job. if she does not want to do her job, fine, pero huwag niyang idamay the people who just wants to enjoy the natural beauty of sagada and enjoy its food and hospitality, for which they are willing to pay good money. i would think that people who go to sagada don’t ask for much except a modicum of civility and polite service. when we asked chubs what was the best seller in the menu. she smirked, rolled her eyes, and haughtily said, lahat naman diyan bestseller. obviously a lie. i then jokingly and rhetorically asked, anong bestseller among the bestsellers? and proceeded to order without waiting for another smirk and smart alecky yet idiotic answer. all this we took in stride, attributing fatigue and whole day’s work to the attitude. however, what i find galling is this – rumors have it that the service differs when they deal not with filipinos but foreign nationals. colonial mentality and discrimination at their worst, filipinos being discriminated against in their own country and natural resource! yoghurt house, you better shape up before we boycott you!!!!

We really want to do the cave connection. do they still allow tourists to go inside the cave even if its raining? Thanks!
