Hi, is the Halsema highway drastically improved compared to previous years? from the news papers i read, they mention travel time is cut from 6hours to 3. We’re planning to go to Sagada in two weeks time and looking forward to it. this will be my 3rd time. your web site has made planning a lot easier

Hi Michelle,
I don’t buy that. hehe. Yeah, the roads were better when I went there last January but it still was a 5-6hr trip.

Hi Benj,
My friend and I are planning on a trip to Sagada on the week of May 19 - 25. It would the first time to go there for either of us. With the imminent coming of the rainy season (at least here in Manila), would we still enjoy and savor the trip?
Also, we would love to be hooked up to other travellers on that week so the trip would be more fun.
Thanks.
JC of Makati.

benj, thanks for this cool and helpful site you’re running. my wife and i will be in sagada on May 13-15 with a small possibility of extending til the 16th.
this’ll be my 2nd time and the 1st for my wife. my friends and i stayed in st. joseph’s then, but i booked a room with tita mary this time around.
we took the bontoc route before and i’m planning on taking that again, one concern i have though is the trip from bontoc to sagada. me, my 3 friends and 2 others rented a van (the ones waiting at the autobus station) back in ‘06 which made it very affordable, but since i’ll be going with my wife this time and we’re going on a weekday (meaning less people to share the ride with), we might end up spending more. can you enlighten me on this.
thanks!

Hi Bong! Thanks for visiting.
You might end up spending more indeed. Dont you want to take a jeep instead? Its only a 45 minute ride anyway.
I added you to the list with your specifications. Ill contact you if another group posts a sched similar to yours.

hi benj, we’re a group of around 8-10 pax going there from may 16-18, can you suggest if its economical to instead rent a van instead of bus? here’s our tentative IT.. can you advise if its doable? we don’t have contact yet as to tourist guide and also, i heard there are ifugao houses that allows us to stay overnight for 100-150/pax? thanks again..

Got our Sagada trip firmed up. My friend and I will take the Manila - Banaue - Bontoc - Sagada route. We will leave Manila for Banaue on May 19th, then head back for Manila from Sagada on May 23. It will be our first time to visit Mt. Province so we are a little anxious (and excited). Your help would be greatly appreciated. A few questions here:
1. If we arrive in Banaue on the 20th around 8AM, would we still have time to visit the sights before leaving for Sagada on the same day?
2. Should we have time to see the Banaue sights, would you advise getting a guide, though we are only staying for a few hours? If so, how much would the guides cost?
3. A friend suggested renting a jeepney in Banaue for the sights. Would you suggest that?
4. From Banaue, what times are the trips to Bontoc, then to Sagada?
5. For each of us (my friend and I), how much would you estimate our individual expense would be (fare, lodging, food, guide fees, etc.), for a 4 day/3 night vacation?
Thanks, in advance. We are emboldened with going ahead with this “first-timer” trip with all the assistance and encouragement we get from your site. :o)

To answer JC’s questions:
1. Due to limited trips to Bontoc (at most three a day), I wouldn’t recommend a Banaue tour before going to Sagada on the same day.The trips to Bontoc from Banaue are sceduled at 8AM, 10Am and 12PM.
2. If you insist on touring Banaue, better spend a night there. No need to get a guide, the driver can act as one.
3. We toured Banaue on a trike, jeepney would be fine but it is more expensive than a trike tour for sure.
4. A jeepney to Bontoc located near the Banaue Market leaves 8 in the morning. If you miss the jepney, the option would be to catch the buses to Bontoc at 10:00 AM, (Bonbon Bus) and 12PM (Emmanuel Trans). From Bontoc there are jeepneys to Sagada every hour up to 5PM.
5. Hmm, depends actually, but on the average, 3.5K-4K will be more than enough.

There’s PNB ATM in Ground Floor of Gov’t Commercial Bldg., National Road, Poblacion, Bontoc, then there is also a Landbank and a Metrobank (that is oftenly out of cash according to a Sagada friend)
I just hope that the machines are Online when you withdraw, but to be sure just bring cash.

Hey guys. I’ll be in Sagada on Jun4-6 by myself. Baka may pwede masabayan sa trekking, big falls, or sa sumaguing. How much na kaya ang fare? To think na every week fuel prices are going up. Another thing is the weather. I hope it’s not that bad.
