The Two-Day Sagada Getaway

If you’ve done a decent amount of reading and research, you would know by now that there’s no way that you could go to Sagada on a day trip. The travel time from the other heavily traveled towns and cities (Banaue and Sagada) makes it virtually impossible to make much in 24 hours – the trip back and forth would take 24 hours! Buses leave Baguio at 630AM and the earliest it arrives in Sagada is around 1PM. Since the buses from Sagada to Baguio, you only have a little over a day to experience Sagada.

Given this predicament, here’s my buzzer-beating, not-a-dull-moment itinerary to make the most out your tight schedule:

Day 0 – Manila

10 PM – Leave for Baguio (Victory) 390/head

Day 1 – Baguio City/Sagada

5AM – Arrive at Baguio

630AM – Take the first bus to Sagada (Lizardo Bus Lines – Dangwa Station) – 220/head

1 PM – Arrive at Sagada

2 PM – Finish checking in. (Residential Lodge: 200/head/night), quick lunch

230PM – Spelunking (regular – 400/group of 4) (connection – 400/head)

Day 2 – Sagada-Baguio-Manila

7 AM – Leave for Big Falls

12 NN – Back at the hotel for check out

1 PM – Bus Leaves for Baguio

8 PM – Bus Arrives At Baguio

9 PM – Bus leaves for Manila

Day 3 – Manila

5 AM – Bus arrives in Manila

This schedule doesn’t have much allowances for delay so stick to it.

  1. When you get to Manila, you have to take atleast 2 days vacation from your Sagada vacation. Hehehe :D This is simply draining knowing the road to Sagada. For a more relaxing , enjoyable and worthy trip, I’d spare about 3 days exclusive of Day 0, minimum.

For an ultra revitilizing trip, 1 week of sleeping and eating in Sagada would be best. I’d do it if I have the time. :D

  2. I agree Jenn. :) I haven’t done the 1 week thing though – 6 days lang. :P

Some people seem to insist on doing this one day thing. I met a lot of people up there who only stayed for a day.

  3. Hi. What does this mean – (regular – 400/group of 4) (connection – 400/head)? =)
Is it possible to post a listing of activities with estimate of cost? (like the Big Falls activity, etc.)- ideally on a per head basis, but I understand a number of activities are more economical to do in groups, so if you can have the estimate per group of n, that would be great! If I’m asking too much, hehe, just ignore the post. =) thank you.

  4. For caving, it’s 400 for a group of 4 people. So that’s 100 per head. The cave connection is a tougher variant with a rate of 400 per head.

The Big Falls trip goes at a rate of 600/ for 1-10 people. So it could go from 600 to as low as 60 per head.

    1 600
    2 300
    3 200
    4 150
    5 120
    6 100
    7 ~86
    8 75
    9 ~66
    10 60

  8. [...] While a three-day itinerary is ideal, one could still enjoy the wonders of Sagada in two days. [...]

  10. sagada is ideally enjoyed and appreciated more if you stay and relax for at least a week. 2-3 days is good only if you are interested in the big cave and the big falls, but there is a reason why they are called as such. there are also other caves, a small falls that the locals frequent and is a lot closer from town, the lake with wild blueberries (edible and free) in season on summer time. hanging coffins, echo valley, the dap-ays, kiltepan rice terraces and others.

  11. for a group of 10 people, would it be advisable to bring a van? i was thinking of cutting down on travel time if we drive. how are the roads anyway? planning to go there middle of aug (after payday, hehehe).
