Travel: My First Trip To Sagada

I was fourteen years old during my first trip to Sagada. My family traveled through Banaue with my Dad as the designated driver. While this mode of transportation is highly atypical of how most people would experience Sagada, taking your own car doesn’t really make much of a difference as far as comfort is concerned. The road from Banaue is quite rough and you’ll still feel every bump on the road. Taking public transportation would probably allow you to worry less about your car taking a beating.

We only spent a day in Sagada back in 1999. My grandmother was with us so we couldn’t really do the activities that would required significant physical strength. Despite being short on time, we still got to visit the Burial Caves, Sumaging Cave and Echo Valley. I was able to see a lot of things but it was disappointing that we didn’t get to see more.

I promised myself that I will be back soon but it took all of nine years before I managed to return.

  4. hi lana, it actually depends on how long you will be staying in Sagada. But for a 3D/2N stay, I think it is just enough.

    Transpo: Manila-Baguio-Sagada-Baguio-Manila P1200.00
Accom: P400.00 (P200/head/night in Residential Lodge)
Activities: P800.00 (i included cave connection P400.00 per person)
    Foods/Pasalubong: P600.00

Well, those are just rough estimates.

  7. opps i supposed i put my comment here not on the gallery ha..ha..ha.., well guys if you want adventure then sagada is the place to be forget boracay, this is much better than that, but for you guys who have phobia’s like me, better to think a billion times, plus the road is not that good so it might get you irritated :D but the trip is worth while for the experience, so plan your vacation a month earlier if i were you, bring those important things with you, and don’t forget good sandals or a good shoes, it might save your life :D , and the best lodge in sagada is the ‘RESIDENTIAL LODGE’ owned by the next mayor of sagada TITA MARY , HE..HE..

  12. Hi Karlo, there is none. You can go to Sagada, via Baguio, Banawe or Bontoc. Please check our Travel Page for the details of these routes. :)

  13. I want to bring my office staff on a tour to Sagada. However, I also have to bring my 2 year old son so I won’t have to be away from him for a long time. We plan to hire a van since we would be heavily packed for my boy’s things. You think this is a good idea? We initially just wanted to stick to Banawe as they say that we might not be able to survive the road to Sagada but somebody told us we might as well head on to Sagada if we’re already in Banawe. Any sound advice please????

  15. My cousin and I recently made our first-ever trip to Sagada a few days ago. We were excited to go to Sagada because it’s the homeland of our ancestors, and we were not disappointed. Regretfully, we did not have enough time to visit all the wonderful spots and partake in the activities; however, the sites that we did see (caves) including Sagada proper were beautiful. It was as if you were in some place other than the Philippines, the atmosphere is welcoming and breathtaking. Also, we made a side-trip to Suyo which was equally beautiful and stunning as Sagada is. Sagada is truly a place that any tourist, especially a Filipino, must visit to appreciate the natural beauty of the Philippines.
