Sure, Saint Joseph Inn is the most popular lodging house in Sagada but should they be fully booked when they weren’t a day before like what happened when me and my friends last went there, what do you do? The ultimate hassle is always finding out that part of your original plan had been messed up some but never worry, personal experience says there’s a solution rests just around the bend. And quite literally, too.
About a hundred or so meters from the Sagada Municipal Hall and down the street where the fabled Yoghurt House restaurant is, is a four storey structure which served as a great lodging alternative for me and my companions. Cheaper than most inns in the vicinity, too, by a few hundred bucks. That’s George Guest House to you, weary traveller.
What to expect: Private rooms or rooms for share, modest sized beds and extra mattresses with clean beddings, a convenience store just downstairs, and hot water boiled for you (for a minimal fee of P30 last I’ve been there) should you find the shower water too cold. We got the rooftop ala penthouse room and it fit five of us comfortably. What’s best about the rooftop location is the veranda overlooking Sagada’s foggy mountains peaks and pine tree-laden green surroundings.
If you do choose to stay at George Guest House, kindly the owners that the people from VisitSagada.com referred you. Check out George Guest House’s website for more info.

Hi,
I believe the number of Auntie Dora is incorrect. It should be 639185480406. They also have a website: http://www.sagadageorgeinn.bravehost.com/

I stayed here last year with my wife and the place is very nice, clean and people are very accommodating. We even had a rare opportunity to join their Lang-ay festival courtesy of Auntie Dora.

Stayed here just last weekend, the 3rd flr rooms would have been cozy and perfect for two persons, but sadly, four of us were squeezed in there, and it’s just too cramped. Can hardly move around. Clearance between bed and the lone side table is enough for just 1 person to pass through. Patagilid pag may kasalubong ka. Bed to bed clearance, siguro 1-2ft wide lang. Double bed naman. No chairs, no cabinets to place things on/in (dahil siguro masikip na). But the room has a 1-m wide terrace where you get a good view of the landscape. The hot shower is very reliable as well. No tv. Costed as 200/head/night, 4 persons. Warm, comfy linens, medyo flat at maliit na pillow. Okay lang, tutulugan mo lang naman kasi pagod na pagod ka at the end of the day from all the caving and trekking. Always smiling owners… accomodating staff.

we were 12 in the group who went to sagada last may 1, since we just had 3 weeks before that to look for a place to stay we were so lucky that among all the organizer contacted inquiring about a place to stay. it was george guest house who texted back. since it was peak season the only place left was the george house extension. great place ! just behind the house is a view of echo valley. the house has 3 bathrooms & 3 bedrooms. with kitchen, sala and even a working fireplace ; ) my friends had a great time. will surely come back to use the place again

Hi! can somebody please tell me if how much will it cost per night?
Comment by Rick — February 12, 2010 @ 2:05 am
the place is not as good as often talked about.the room given us has two beds cramped up in one tiny room, no tables, and a horrible- smelling toilet. the view deck is only a meter wide. Linens are old and less tended.(and smelled like somebody else’s perfume, like a guest before us). And beware, the hotel management tend to charge you for plenty of things from towel change, to kitchen fee of 100 pesos for heating your food, and for a so-so bland lunch.

We stayed at George’s Guesthouse last Saturday, April 10, 2010 because our friend made reservations for all 10 of us. We had reserved 2 rooms for 2 couples and 2 rooms good for three. The reservation was done more than two weeks before we arrived.
When we came in, around 11am. We just left our things in the back room as the rooms are still being cleaned and some guests were just about to check out. So we started out for lunch and went around knowing that there will be a place to rest our weary bodies later in the evening.
We came back after dinner at the Log Cabin a little before 9pm. The key to one of the rooms (Red Room) we are to occupy was nowhere to be found. Finally, they decided to use the spare key and we went up only to be dismayed because the Red Room didn’t look like the cozy room they told us we will have. There was no tv in it and worst, the door to the bathroom was practically dangling! Both hinges were only held by a screw each! There was no shower head but a faucet with a pail and a dipper.
After talking with the personnel, my friends were told to just look for another lodging as they cannot give us another room by one named Dora. I did not join in the discussion as it was my friend who reserved the rooms who talked to them. As there was no available room, the ones who stayed in the Red Room was my friend who reserved the rooms for us and we ended up using the White room. It was only for a night anyway but the way the staff talked to my friends were so infuriating.
There should be some seminar required for those who are operating lodging inns so that their personnel will know how to deal with their guests.
The local government tourism office should do its job by inspecting the lodging inns and making sure they have trainings for the staff to ensure that tourists will have a pleasant stay in their establishments.
My friend took photos of the Red Room and the living room on the second floor and you can see how the state of the rooms were that Saturday night.

I heard ST. Joseph Resthouse is a good place to stay because it is in the town center and every place is accessible. I wonder why it is not included in the list? I want to stay there, though. Please give me some info about the resthouse.. thanks!

I may not understand what you, GEORGE GUESTHOUSE staffers throw on me. bUt here’s one thing; i will not be stopped at sharing the RIGHT EXPERIENCE I HAD AT YOUR DESPICABLE INN. And if you want to defend the Inn as a person who wants to show a good image of it, then BE ONE WITH A GOOD IMAGE FIRST. Instead of criticizing me for my comment, why not concentrate on :
1) having your staffers trained PROPERLY;
2) having your inn repaired generally;(bygosh with all the comments on the internet about your rooms, couldnt that be enough? or maybe in your case, it’s not.)
3) get yourself a GOOD COOK!
4) Having your INN Inspected by a SANITARY PERSONNEL
You do not want to irk your guests and would-be guests with that trashy disposition. If you don’t agree with my criticism that your linens are old and smelly, then let the guests speak instead of you being on the violent defensive.
AS A FORMER GUEST, (and will never be again, thanks to your comment!)I HAVE THE RIGHT TO CRITICIZE and COMMENT! FOr that,I WiLl JUST BOOK MYSELF AT ANOTHER MORE CLEANER INN LIKE THE ROCK INN OR OLAHBINAN FOR THAT MATTER>

FROM THE MANAGEMENT OF GGH
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to those who made beautiful posts on this page regarding our services and the hotel in general. We are glad to be part of your memorable stay in Sagada, as it is what we at George Guesthouse would like our guests to bring with them as they leave.
While admittedly we could not please everybody, we would like to deeply apologize to those guests whom we may have failed to serve with our best during their stay at the hotel. We also take responsibility for those who may have wanted to post comments with the intention to come to our aid which eventually came out hard-edged. Igniting ire among people, friends, and wonderful guests close to us is definitely not in our horn book.
To those who were vigilant enough to let us know of their discomforts and complaint during their stay, we thank you as we shall strive to find ways to better serve our guests and make their stay in Sagada all worth the while.
