I TOTALLY DISAGREE THAT THESE “SAGGAS” CAN DO GUIDING SAFELY FOR THE TOURISTS. THEY DID NOT EVEN PASS THE TRAININGS FOR GUIDES IN SAGADA. THEY DONT HAVE THE FIRST AID TRAININGS AND ARE NOT THE ACCREDITED GUIDES OF THE DEPT. OF TOURISM. I HAVE BEEN TO SAGADA SO MANY TIMES AND FOUND OUT THAT A FEW MONTHS AGO SOME FOREIGN TOURISTS WERE RESCUED BY THE REAL SAGADA TOUR GUIDES THE “SEGA” WHILE
DOING THE CAVE CONNECTION GUIDED BY THESE SO CALLED “SAGGAS”. THE TOURISTS WERE HURT BUT THEIR GUIDE DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO TO TAKE THEM OUT OF THE CAVE OR TO DO THE FIRST AID. WHAT KIND OF GUIDES ARE THEY? THEY ARE DOING THIS BCOZ THEY DONT LIKE TO UNDERGO THE TRAININGS. WOULD YOU TRUST YOUR LIFE WITH THESE GUIDES?

OMG!! si Jane, halatang hindi turista and if tourist man sya!. She/He must be an IDIOT. STUPID. to be giving comments she has no experience of.
I must apologize for my words, im just so Infuriated by those lies.KASINUNGALINGAN
Jane’s Accusations are NOT TRUE and mere HEAR SAYS
here’s why!!!
1) Jane said we do not have any training:
NONE SENSE.. as far as i know i have about four tour guiding related certificates and so with each member of SAGGAS. 1 of it was issued by the DOT. come to sagada and i will show it to u.
2) NOT recognized by DOT… HALLER… have you asked them? do you want their number?
3) The accident at the Cave connection.
Jane said.. the tourist that got hurt was a client of SAGGAS guides and was rescued by SEGA “the real guides daw” yuck.. ewww..
TOTALLY OPPOSITE.. KABALIKTARAN!!!!
why?
There were two male tourists, 1 was a Filipino working in the States and another was an American who got his shoulders dislocated. (he made it out safely by the way, and loved every bit of experience he had.
I know this because I was not their guide,
I was the ONE their guide called for rescue because I was simply the nearest guy.. now i do not want to say something against SEGA because accidents are inevitable. it happens but we don’t know when.
Im not a person who likes accusing people w/o any proof. i have the necessary proofs and lnks that could destroy the SEGA reputation but I’m not that kind of person.
Because IN THE END, NOBODY WINS, WE ALL LOOSE.
To the person behind that Jane, Next time, “put you money where your mouth is” and confirm what you hear, provide us some proof and think about the effects you are doing..
You are not destroying just SAGGAS, little do you know that you are destroying us SAGADIANS.
to you readers out there, our organization SAGGAS protects its motto(GUEST SATISFACTION), the very reason for our existence and we will keep on helping Tourists the best way we can..
good day..
GARETH (SAGGAS)

hahaha…to you GARETH…i know 1 of you has a DOT cert. bcoz he went under training with the SEGAs and now a certified SEGA member already….
dont get angry GARETH…it only shows i am telling the truth….
Comment by Jane — October 2, 2008 @ 8:02 am
and i forgot pala GARETH…i was in Sagada last July 4-7, 2008, did u know what happened in the Big Falls? SAGGAs ang guide that time…so sad the place was closed for a few days…and SEGA na naman ang nagrescue sa guests….
Comment by Jane — October 2, 2008 @ 8:32 am
hi SIR GARETH…the incident in Big Falls happened pala on July 29, 2008, i was there too. Would suggest na all of you SAGGAs get a DOT cert. and undergo training from the SEGAs so you would know how to guide safely and properly to prevent these things to happen….
Comment by Jane — October 2, 2008 @ 8:45 am
benj.. can u delete posts 8 – 9 and 10, his is so like destroying us by her/his falls accusations. i can prove all of it wrong.. not just hear says..
jane, hear says… STUPIDITY
and regarding number 9.. haller… im totally, very very very, sure that that is not a SAGGAS. SEGA un, you idiot.. i don’t wanna name the guide by the way?..
once again.. JANE, our unreliable critique, kung mag sabi ka naman, yung totoo.. come to sagada and ill show you my certificate along with the others, and ill prove you wrong, nothing you accused us is true..
hay, mahiya ka naman.. and kung siraan mo naman kami, well. wag mo na po gawin yan.. wala rin patutunguhan, your destroying the persons caring for tourists like you in Sagada.. as a person helping guys or gurls like you, it totally breaks my heart, reading post like this here.. please don’t, do it peacefully by giving me an e-mail… crazyhim16@yahoo.com

i don’t see the point of arguing. it was proven already, and we already know that, saggas are professional sagada guides. needless to say that they are certified, well-trained, and really good with their jobs. i’m happy with their guiding service and i became a brother to each and every one of them. i’ve been to sagada more than 5 times already, and not a single scratch.
Comment by biyahengpinoy — October 5, 2008 @ 5:30 pm
to jane,
Don’t be so naive jane. Jane jane jane. Do you want me to pinpoint the guide when the bomod-ok event happened?! Like haloer, please get a life. O kaya’y magbigti ka na lang.. In short, stop destroying someone else’s life. Its apparent that you’re biased. I mean common.. Segga segga.. All that’s coming from your mouth. What have they done to you to treat them not so right. To viewers, jane is such a liar..! How stupid to destroy a place of his own… The word psycho explains why he’s acting like one.

hi.. i just wanna comment with this argument.. We visited Sagada last Dec 25 2008.. it was our first time.. that’s y we surf the net to search some data, found the no. of Gareth and ask things bout everything to Sagada.. He’s courteous and friendly enough to answer all our questions.. In short we didn’t know the issues between the SAGGAS and the SEGA.. We registered at the Municipal Hall.. A guide there approached us.. I’m am just happy to ask him if he knows Gareth.. and he says “Oo kilalang kilala yun dito” ang sabi ko pa “ah talaga po?!” with a smile of course, thinking that at least we are not talking to a person unknown and whatever happened to us at least people there knew where this man to find.. The sad thing was.. he said that “ibang grupo kasi sila, kami kasi talaga ang original guide dito pero ginawa nilang sila ung genuine guide daw tsaka advantage nila sa internet, pero subukan mo sila sa rock climbing di marunong mga yan”
You know what guys? my lips dropped… ksi di ko naisip na may mga ganung pag iisip na din pala mga tao dun sa Sagada.. i’m expecting to meet people that are simple, extra kind and w/out any trace of greed and dishonesty.. That’s where i started to think that there’s a rivalry going on in that place.. In fairness with gareth when i asked him about the issue between the SAGGAS and SEGA, he said nothing.. he said that there’s a little misunderstanding only between them.. Neither did i heard him badmouthed the other group… For the SAGGAS they wanted it to be a friendly competition..
I hope someday it will be really just like that.. To patch things up between the two groups because.. Sagada is really a place of serenity and simplicity.. And i believed that there’s a lot more to discover in that place.. So let it shall not be ruined with commercialism..

Hi.. I just wanna share my views about the arguments.
It’s our first time to visit Sagada. We went there last Dec 25, 2008. Of course, the net is the first place to rely if you want to search for some infos about something. We found the no. of Gareth, texted him and ask everything we need to Sagada. He’s courteous and friendly enough to answer all our questions. To make it short, we know nothing about the issues between the SAGGAS and the SEGA. We arrived. Registered at the Municipal Hall and waited. A man approached us. (I’m sure he’s a tour guide) Kaya sabi ko “Kilala nyo po ba si Gareth?” Sabi nya “Oo kilalang kilala sya dito” So i said “Ah talaga po?! w/ a smile of course, (thinking at least we are not talking to a person unknowned and in case whatever happened to us during our stay at least the people there knew where to find that man). But the sad thing was.. ang sabi nya.. “ibang grupo kasi sila, kami kasi yung accredited guides dito, ginamit lang nila yung genuine guide na pangalan tsaka lamang lang sila dahil sa internet, pero subukan nyo sila sa rock climbing di sila marunong”
My lips dropped.. kasi may mga ganito na din palang pag iisip sa Sagada. I expected that people are simplier, super kind and w/out any trace of greed and dishonesty. That’s when i started to think that there’s a rivalry between the 2 groups.
In fairness to Gareth, when i asked him about the issue, he said nothing. He just said that there’s a little misunderstanding only between the SAGGAS and the SEGA. i didn’t heared him badmouthed the other group. I know that for SAGGAS it’s only a friendly competition.
Ang sa akin lang, I hope that whatever conflicts they have, they should settle it the soonest possible. Sagada is a place of serenity and simplicity. There’s A lot more to discover in this mystical place. So let it shall not be corrupted with commercialism.
a concern tourist.

Jane and Gareth?????? WHo are you guys!!!! Get a life!!! 2 sagada people arguing who is who!!!! what a shame you two are!!!!!
me and my husband went to sagada last january and really enjoyed our stay there. that’s why when i opened these site and read these comments, i felt disgust at what i read.
let me share a story on what we did during our stay in sagada.
upon reaching sagada, we went directly to the municipal hall because we saw a sign requesting all tourists to register there. a lady receptionist “i believe” helped us with informations we needed. I think officialy, its at the municipal hall where every transactions should be made. she asked us to find a place to stay first because it was a friday and i think she said that it was on fridays that most visitors arrive to sagada. we asked her what hotel she’d recommend for us to stay but she just said that we had to check each hotel to see which one we liked best, so that’s what we did.
After locating a hotel, we went back to inquire about having a guide for a sight seeing tour. There, the receptionist told us that it was at the tourist info office where all transactions regarding guides are arranged. She then explained the tour to us and arranged for our guide. His name i think was Adam but then he smiled and said we could just call him danwa. At first i was hesitant to talk to him but he started making us feel at ease with him as our guide. We had a great time and i hope we could go back to sagada again.

PEACE to all….
SAGADA – you’re one of a kind ( remain beautiful because that is who you are-and stay the same, no matter what):-)

This might ruin our trip.

WE ALSO BEEN IN SAGADA THIS JAN-FEB.2010…
OUR TOUR GUIDE IS FROM SEGA…I ASK HIM IF HE KNOWS GARETH—HE JUST ANS ME YES—-AND NO BAD COMMENT AND ISSUE HE OPEN ABOUT TO GARETH AND TO THE GROUP OF SAGAS….
MEAN– MY TOURGUIDE IS A TYPE OF PERSON VERY PROFFESIONAL….AND I FEEL & BELIEVE THAT,ALL OF THE MEMBERS ARE LIKE HIM TOO…BECAUSE WE MET THEM ALSO…
MY PERCEPTION REGARDING TO MS. JANE ISSUE—-MAYBE SHE JUST WANT THE TOURIST TO BE SAFE ONLY-THRU CHOOSING A TOUR GUIDE, BUT SHE DIDNT NOTICE SHE GIVE HURT FEELINGS TO ALL SUPPORTERS OF SAGA GROUP—THERE IS A GOOD WAY ON HOW TO GIVE AN ADVICE TO ALL TOURIST/VISITORS OF SAGADA IN A PEACEFUL MANNER…BUT MAYBE SHE WRITE THIS WAY BECAUSE SHE JUST VENTING OUT TO HER FEELINGS—
ANYWAY—TO ALL TOURIST: JUST ANALYZE ALL THE FACTORS AND BE KNOWLDGEABLE OF CHOOSING WHO WILL BE YOUR TOURGUIDE–…HIRING OF TOUR GUIDE IS YOUR DECISION AND NOT FROM OTHER PEOPLE….
GOD BLESS YOU ALL—-GOD BLESS YOU SAGADA…
